DABDA - The classic definition of dealing with change.
D - Denial
A - Anger
B - Bargaining
D - Depression
A - Acceptance

More specifically, this was the definition of dealing with death.  But, it also applies to change.  I use to work as a business analyst introducing change to the corporation I worked for.  In a seminar I attended, my role was described as being the “agent of death.”  I would introduce new ways of getting things done.  As the Coldplay song goes, “Every new beginning is some other beginning’s end.”  Therefore, I had to understand that not everyone would embrace the new way of doing things.  Some would try to hold onto the old way.  At first they would try to deny the new approach, then they would get angry, they would bargain for a way to keep the old ways around, they would then get depressed about the new process and finally they would accept it.  Realizing that this was going to happen made my job easier… well at least I understood what was going on…
